from 17 to 25 meters: how kinesiology helped with equalisation in freediving

I’ve had the privilege of working with Letteke on her equalisation. She was experiencing challenges between 10 and 17 meters and after 3 kinesiology sessions, she reached a milestone of 25.4 meters during her time in Kalamata!

What moved me most wasn’t the depth but how she described it: “Dat diepte niet gaat over harder werken, maar juist over zachter worden” — that depth is not about working harder, but about becoming softer. And how she felt relaxed and confident during her dive.

Kinesiology was one piece of her journey. Letteke’s dedication, her guidance along the way with Freedive Within and her trust in herself were all part of this beautiful milestone.

what letteke experienced during her kinesiology sessions

“My first consultation with you was a very pleasant experience. During the treatment I could already feel that a lot was happening in my body. Emotions also came up, which was special to experience.

After the first session I noticed a lot of relaxation in my jaw in particular. There had been a lot of tension there for a long time, especially at night. When I woke up in the mornings I often had discomfort in my jaw. I also always had a strong urge to chew gum. Since the treatment that urge has diminished a lot and I can clearly feel more relaxation in that area.

During the second treatment we went deeper into an event that had a big impact. During the session I came into a very deep relaxation, which I found incredibly pleasant.

Afterwards I felt liberated and light, as if a weight had literally been lifted from my shoulders. Even on the way home I felt an enormous sense of freedom and calm within myself.

What also struck me were the reactions of the people around me later that week. People spontaneously said that I came across as happier and more relaxed. Even in situations where I would normally feel insecurity, I noticed that I was much more confident.

Even during my diving and dynamic training I felt more relaxation in my body. That’s why I’m really looking forward to going back into the deep soon, and I’m very curious to see how the equalising will continue to develop. Thank you for everything so far.”

“softer, not harder”: a new relationship with depth

What Letteke describes is something I see again and again in my work. The body holds so much. Stress, old experiences, tension we have carried for so long that it starts to feel normal. Kinesiology creates the conditions for your body’s inherent wisdom to come forward and helps us to understand how stress may be influencing sport performance and your overall well-being.

For Letteke, that showed up as jaw tension, insecurity and a ceiling in her equalisation. And then, session by session, something shifted.

kinesiology and sport performance: creating the conditions for your body’s wisdom

“Through your treatments I found more calm, trust and relaxation in my body again. That has made all the difference in my diving journey.”

Whether you are a freediver, an athlete or simply someone who feels that something in your body is holding you back, kinesiology may help. I would love to support you on your journey.
